Tanya Chung-Tiam-Fook

Tanya Chung-Tiam-Fook is a thought leader in the areas of environmental stewardship and climate change, Indigenous innovation and placekeeping, health and mental wellness, and community engagement. She leads national level Indigenous programming, research and engagement for Evergreen and Future Cities Canada under two key Indigenous strategies: i) a technology and innovation capacity building and digital inclusion initiative in partnership with First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities and practitioners across Canada; and ii) the Indigenous Re-imagining of Cities Program, a platform for collaborative dialogue, research, convenings, and land-based activations focused on Indigenous placekeeping and civic-Indigenous partnerships.

Tanya has Akawaio and mixed ancestry from Guyana and the Netherlands, and has collaborated with Indigenous communities and organizations across Turtle Island and internationally. She has extensive community engagement, project leadership, research, teaching and facilitation experience in the areas of Indigenous placekeeping, environmental and technology perspectives; climate change; mental wellness and health; education; and international development. Tanya holds a PhD in Environmental Studies, an MA in International Development Studies and a diploma in psychotherapy. She has taught undergraduate and graduate courses, educational workshops and guest lectured throughout Canada and internationally. She has also presented and published her research in peer-reviewed, policy and community settings.
