Andrea Gonsalves

Andrea is a partner at Stockwodos LLP and has a broad litigation practice, with particular emphasis in administrative and regulatory law, and civil litigation including defamation and media law. She has argued cases before all levels of court in Ontario and the Federal Courts, as well as various administrative tribunals. Andrea has a particular interest in defamation in employment relationships, public and media access to court proceedings, other free expression issues. Andrea also acts and advises both plaintiffs and defendants in online defamation matters. Andrea has experience representing and advising media clients on matters including defamation claims, publication bans and pre-publication issues.

Andrea speaks and writes frequently on free expression issues and various other topics relevant to the legal profession. Andrea is Adjunct Faculty at Osgoode Hall Law School where she has taught Administrative Law since 2012. She also teaches Administrative Law for Osgoode Professional Development’s LLM program  Prior to joining Stockwoods in 2007, Andrea clerked for the judges of the Court of Appeal for Ontario and for the Honourable Justice LeBel of the Supreme Court of Canada.
